Book #2 from the series: Willow Bridge

Reckless Royalty (Willow Bridge Academy Book 2)

About

Maddy
I’ve been silent since the day my world shattered. Watching my mother and sister die, knowing I’m the reason they were killed, has left me hollow. They sent me to Willow Bridge to keep me safe, but I don’t feel safe, not with Mihai Vasile as my so-called protector.

He’s cold, distant, and carries the weight of a world I don’t understand—a world full of violence and danger, one I never wanted to be part of. But beneath the arrogance, I see something else, something that draws me in despite my fear.

I may be silent, but I remember everything. I remember who pulled the trigger that night, and it’s only a matter of time before I have to tell him.

What happens after that, though, is something I’m not ready to face.

Mihai
Being one of the Five Crown Heirs at Willow Bridge means I get what I want, when I want. Women, power, respect—it’s all mine for the taking. But when my father orders me to protect Madison Graves, everything changes.

Protecting her should be a job, nothing more. Except, I’m losing control. The more time I spend with her, the more my focus slips. She’s broken, scared, and not speaking, but there’s something about her that’s pulling me in.

And the more I try to protect her, the more I realize I’m the one who’s at risk.

Because the one thing I can’t afford to be right now is reckless.

But with her I already am

This is book 2 in the Willow Bridge Series and not a standalone. It is advised that you read Ruthless Royalty before reading this book.

Praise for this book

When silence strikes can you find the courage to let the shadows of a crown help you find your voice again. This book is not what you think it is going to be. There is so much depth throughout the story. I love how we see not only the relationship build for Maddy and Mihai but also for her and the others as well. We start to truly see how these alliances are structured and strengthened. Maddy may be silent but don’t mistake it for weakness. She not only chooses to live but forge ahead in a world she knows nothing about. I think she will forever be my favorite FMC in this series. I did not expect Mihai to be as compassionate and romantic. The connection he formed with Maddy was truly something special. J. Tarr did not disappoint with the twists and turns. So much gets turned up on it’s head that it will leave you wondering if they will ever right themselves again. The flow of this book made it go down smooth you barely register the burn. I was shocked at how long it was because it does not feel like it. The care that went into this book shows. Looking for a crown? Look no further than this romantic Romanian.

Make sure you read Ruthless Royalty before reading Reckless Royalty! This is a series and meant to be read as such. 😊 That said, I cannot say enough good things about this story between Maddy and Mihai. It’s sweet and cathartic in a way I wasn’t expecting.

Mihai is the Romanian Crown heir, and he is assigned to guard Madison—an assignment he’s not exactly thrilled about having, as he sees it as being a glorified babysitter. Madison, on the other hand, has been through a horrifically traumatizing experience and is rendered mute afterward. She is then thrust into a world she is woefully unprepared and ill-equipped to handle.

The story that follows is a deeper dive into the world of Willow Bridge, the Crowns and the mafia underworld behind it all. The relationships are more fleshed out in this second installment to the series, and I love how the women (well, most of them) befriend Maddy and treat her like she belongs rather than as an outsider. I also love the relationship between Mihai and his father—it’s both unexpected and refreshing.

This second book in the Willow Bridge Academy series is a wonderful journey for both MMC and FMC with a beautiful story of healing. It’s a great continuation of the first book and is seamlessly woven into the overarching plot, which I’m very much looking forward to reading more of when the next book is released!

Quote: “You carry them with you. Always. In the things they loved, in the person you’ve become because of them. This isn’t about letting go—it’s about finding a way to live with the loss.”
